FAQ

Why do you raise rabbits?

I find raising rabbits a very fun hobby to be committed to. I love rabbits and I love that raising them competitively encourages to make the breed better every day. I love striving to be the best at what I do by going above and beyond every day so that our herd reflects thoughtfulness for standard, health, and temperament.  Good managment is essential to a succesful show herd.

What breed do you raise?

We have been breeding Mini Lops since 2011. Our lines are heavy lined from Tracy Harmon (Harmon) , Lisa Davis (Milkhouse)  & Joy Ekstrom (LOJ) .  On occasion, I will dabble in other breeds to learn more for my registrar/ judging license.

Do rabbits make good pets?

I believe rabbits make excellent pets, but require slightly different care than a dog or cat. They share similar attributes of a canine & feline companion, but rabbits enjoy binking around, a consistent clean space ( rabbits don't like to be dirty! Spot clean the corner they choose!) finding unhidden cords (Hide them all!) , tearing up cardboard boxes ( toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay..yum!), awake usually 2am-7am (Keep them out of the bedroom!)...but they are also super comical, silly, and curious creatures. They enjoy their alone time but they are usually more social in the early morning/ late evenings ( so you away at work is just fine! )

*Please remember* rabbits are prey animals, some don't mind being carried at all and some rather snuggle up close for head rubs. Each rabbit is different!  At the end of the day, their preference is to be on the floor.

Does my rabbit need a friend?

From a practical standpoint, I have found rabbits to be quite solitary creatures. They usually enjoy the company of their human(s) or other species. In my experience and talking with a large amount of owners, rescuers, breeders, rehabilitators, vets, etc., many have had issues with bonded pairs inflicting injury/ death (Spay/Neuter had no guarantee of companions remaining compatible) after bonding.

This is why we do not sell pairs. Also, favoritism can occur or two might be more than you can handle. We cannot control if the family decides to purchse the bonded mate seperately, but we can advise to try raising one rabbit for atleast a few months to know if you really have the time for a second. We highly recommend spay and neuter if bonding is to be attempted.

Is the "Mini Lop" actually Mini?

The Mini Lop is actually a 5-6 1/2 lb rabbit. About 2 lbs greater than Holland Lop. Usually the Mini Lop is best with small children due to it's  Small- Medium size, friendly nature, and tolerant attitude when comepared smaller breeds that can tend to be more excitable and fragile. We call them the "bull dogs" of the rabbit world.
